 Thelma and Horatio Lake celebrated their 56th Wedding Anniversary on March 17, 2010

Photo right is of Horatio and Thelma with the entire family taken at our dad’s 75th birthday celebration. The affair was held at the Washington Navy Yard Catering Center in Washington, D.C. Shown from left to right are: Michael and Delores   Neatha is the middle daughter of Horatio and Thelma Lake.Michael Knight, Jr.; Thelma and Horatio; Benjamin Delaney; Edward Ingram and Orneatha Delaney Ingram; Gary, Khalid, Gary Hinkle, Sr. and Deborah Hinkle.

Orneatha Lake-Delaney Ingram (Neatha), below center married Edward Ingram on October 10, 2010.

Michael and Delores Lake-Knight (Lois)  below left, celebrated their 25th Wedding Anniversary on August 2, 2010.  Lois is the oldest daughter of Horatio and Thelma Lake.

 Gary and Deborah Lake-Hinkle (Debbie) right, celebrated their 14th Wedding Anniversary on August 3, 2010.  Debbie is the youngest daughter of Horatio and Thelma Lake.

Mignon reports, “We are truly blessed to be celebrating our 57th Wedding Anniversary on the 19th of October, 2010.

Raymond will be presenting his exhibition of photographs in Atlanta, GA at the Auburn Research Library on January 6th through of February 27th, 2011. The Auburn Avenue Research Library on African American History and Culture is a Diaspora of a gathering of ideas on African Americans and their history.”

Kayla Marie Lake  of Taylors SC attended Claflin University Orangeburg SC this past school year. She is a retuning senior this fall. This summer she worked with the City Of Greenville Summer Camp Program.

Zachary Lake attended Eastside High School this past year. Zachary made the AB Honor Roll and received awards in football and wrestling.

This summer he attended Tuskegee University AgriTrek, SciTrek Program. Scholars in this program completed research in the following areas: Agricultural, Environmental, Natural and Advanced Material Sciences. While there Zachary received the following awards: 1st place in the Engineering section of the 2010 AgriTrek/SciTrek Poster Symposium- This project was a group project where three scholars in the engineering program refurbished a playground in rural Tuskegee. Their work included design and assembly of all equipment that was placed in the playground area. Zachary also received the Booker T. Washington Leadership Award. This award was based on scholar leadership ability during the program. 4 scholars were selected for leadership awards out of the 32 scholars in the program. Zachary was selected for this award for going above and beyond what was expected of a leader. He also served as the Master of Ceremony at the closing program.

Zachary was a participant on the Banquet Program at our 42nd Annual WLH Family Reunion this year.

CHARMAYNE EDMUNDS
– Attended a Charter Middle College where she was on the honor roll for 9th grade. She has changed schools to attend Wade Hampton High School for 10th grade where she has been accepted in their Culinary Arts program. Additionally, she has a singing group called Lady Like where is one of the main vocalist. Take a look at her video at redswagg.com or youtube.com search for (ladylike boyfriend). We are so proud of her accomplishments!!

ALEXIA EDMUNDS
– Attended Sevier Middle School where she was on the honor roll for 8th grade. She has been promoted to 9th grade and attends Wade Hampton High School taking AP Human Geography (12th grade course) and English II (10th grade English). Currently she is running for student council!! She also dances for her sister group Lady Like check out their video at redswagg.com We are so proud of her accomplishments!!

ISAIAH EDMUNDS
-Attended Taylors Elementary School where he was on the honor roll for 5th grade. He has been promoted to the 6th and attends Sevier Middle School. He aspires to be an artist for comic books and video games. See Isaiah’s wolverine picture  right

LASHONN EDMUNDS Graduated from the University of Phoenix in November 2010 obtaining her Masters of Arts in Adult Education and Training. Currently, she is pursuing her doctoral degree as a Doctor of Management in Organizational Leadership.

Additionally, she manages her husband’s, Randy Edmunds’ record label Red Swagg Entertainment where their motto is to “Take you from the Studio, to the Stage”. Check out their website to see their artist.

TAMIKA AND HUMPHREY QUAO

The lovely couple shown following their nuptials this summer.   They married on July 3, 2010. Tamika Knox Herbert Quao is the daughter of Helen Herbert and the late, Roy Herbert. She is an educator and we’re very proud to say she was our Speaker at this year’s 42nd Annual WLH Family Reunion Banquet in Philadelphia, PA.  Her message to all was outstanding and very well received!

Tamika states her “husband, Humphrey, is a native of Ghana, Africa and was raised in the U. S. He has a degree from Rowan University and is owner of two businesses. He is a proud father and wonderful role model of his son, Le’ton Jai Quao.”

The family resides in Lumberton, NJ.

RALPH HERBERT, JR.,  ANDREW AND AMY

 

Ralph (Cubby) Herbert, Jr. -reports that his daughter, Amy Elizabeth Herbert will soon be a mother. She is expecting in February and is looking forward to the Blessed Event. Son- Aaron Herbert. is doing well – living in his own apartment and has his own car. He is continuing his education in Virginia.  And son, Andrew Herbert is still enrolled at Tidewater Community College. He is thinking about the possibility of joining the U.S. Navy next year. Proud father, Ralph, Jr. is happy to still be working and is enjoying life.

JORDAN J. TODD with PHILADELPHIA FIRE COMMISSIONER, LLOYD M. AYERS

Jordan J. Todd graduated from A. B. Day School in June.  He received all A’s & B’s and one C on his report card. Jordan will attend Northeast High School like his brother, Joshua and grandfather, the late William Herbert, Sr. did.  He said he spent a lot of time at the GYM this summer in preparation for joining the school’s football team.  He is going out for being a running back.  Jordan was a participant in our 42nd Annual Family Reunion Banquet this year.

 

JOSHUA TODD

Proud mom, Sophia Herbert reports, “Joshua has moved to his first apartment in Shippensburg, PA-(Yeah!!!!) We must stop by and visit Josh if we are in the area.  He will be continuing his education at Shippensburg University and is now a junior there.”  His mom Sophie said she “is proud that he has matured into a very nice young man.  Let’s hope he pays his bills and keeps his place clean; then I can really tell you how mature he is.”

Mike reports he is very happy to state he has recently started working at a new job and is using his skills as a cook.

He recently landed a job at the Philadelphia Prison Systems in Northeast Philadelphia and he loves it.  He missed attending this years Family Reunion because he had to report to work, but he was glad to have a job.  He is happy to now be a union member.

In March this year Michael placed 1st in a Karate fighting competition at the Philadelphia Convention Center and received a trophy. See photo. Congratulations Mike! Mike’s mom is Pamela D. Lee and his Grand Pop is Ralph Herbert, Sr.

PATRICIA HAWKINS AND HER FATHER MORRIS HALEY –

Mr. Morris Haley was honored at this year’s Wilson, Lake and Herbert Family Reunion Banquet as the oldest living family member. He is the husband of the late, Luecretia Herbert Haley of Philadelphia, PA. He celebrated his 98th Birthday on August 1, 2010.   Uncle Morris currently resides in New Castle, DE with his daughter, Patricia.   He lives a good life, keeps up with current events and doesn’t want to miss anything. “Photos above and to the left are of my brother, James, sister, Robin and me and my mother Patricia celebrating her retirement on Sunday July 4th, 2010 at her house in Delaware. The celebration included my grand father and most of my mother’s grand children (the children of Me, Robin and James) who are also included. Note that five of her grandchildren were not able to attend. My mother has 15 grand children total.”
“There is a picture of her cutting her cake which stated Celebrate Life, Enjoy Your Retirement. She also received a weekend trip to Las Vegas from me, James and Robin which she will be taking sometime this fall.”

Patricia retired as an Executive at the US Postal Service after many years of employment.

++++DEVIN AND JAIONNE HALEY AND FAMILY++++

 

Devin and Jaionne Haley Celebrated 21 years of togetherness July 22nd 2010

Devin and Jaionne Haley celebrated their 21st Wedding Anniversary in July. Devin reported they had a wonderful day –  he sent his wife two dozen red roses to her job and they spent the day together with dinner and a movie. He said that their children, Michaiah, Melissa, Justin and Jocelyn were sooo happy to see them go out and enjoy themselves on their special occasion that they each chipped in and gave them money.   LOL . . .

Jaionne reports that their son, Justin Haley is in his 4th consecutive year as a college prep-student at Temple Upward Bound Program. He is a talented self taught musician and is taking voice lessons. Justin plays and owns the Drums and Guitar. He writes and performs poetry/ Spoken Word and is known by many as “The Just One” Poet and also completed an internship at KYW Broadcasting Station and the graduation ceremony was held in the Grand Marbled Lobby of the Franklin Institute Museum where he received an award for his accomplishments and participation. Michaiah Serena Haley is doing well in college completed her freshman year at DeVry University in Downtown Philadelphia and will transfer to Waynesburg University in upstate Pennsylvania studying Forensics. (Photo of Michaiah to be added)
