Greetings, peace and blessings to all of our wonderful family members. It is with great pleasure that we are once again able to be involved in putting together our WLH Family Newsletter as we celebrate our Forty-First Annual Wilson, Lake & Herbert Family Reunion this Labor Day Weekend 2009 hosted by the Newberry, SC WLH Chapter held in Columbia, SC .
As we celebrate our 41st Family Reunion this year we are also celebrating the 20th Anniversary of this Newsletter. In commemoration of this milestone, we are launching our secured wlhnewsletter.com website to continue to share our rich family heritage. We believe this Website will improve our access to what is happening in the family. It will also allow more of us the ability to contribute and in addition, it will be a much less costly way of communicating. We hope that our family members young and old will share in this new venture. Other links may be made a part of the Website in the future. We still plan to have a limited number of copies of the printed version of the Annual Newsletter available for those who want them. Plans are that our format will continue to include our “timeline” to list important events which occurred in the world that also coincide with our own lives.
Ultimately we would like to post all of our Newsletters from the past 20 years on the Website. Wow . . . 20 years seem to have flown by so quickly!
I would like to offer a special thanks from all of the family to Devin Haley, the Creator and Administrator of this Website for his expertise and time in creating such a beautiful and efficient Website.
We are officially launching our Website today, August 31, 2009.

MIGNON & RAYMOND J. WILSON, SR.
Raymond J. Wilson, Sr. successfully had eye surgery on June 23, 2009 and (Praise God!) his sight has been restored. (Praise God!) His first official showing since his sight became challenged is a photo exhibit at the Auburn Avenue Research Library in Atlanta, Georgia. The showing will take place in October of 2010. Ray has gathered more than one hundred and seventy photos for this exciting occasion on the lives of Africans and African Americans history.

Carolyn King Retired in 2009
Carolyn King has finally decided to retire after working 29 years for the Alexandria Public School Systems, there was a retirement ceremony held in June 2009. August 1, 2009 her family and co-workers got together and gave her a retirement party. She plans on visiting family and friends and just relaxing for a while until she decides how she wants to spend her time. She has already joined a senior’s group that some of her friends are members of, her first trip was to the casinos and she said everyone had a great time but no one won any money.
We are blessed and honored that God chose us to be her children and grandchildren, we want everyone to know how much we love her, at times we may forget to express to her how much she means to us, but the kindness that is in her heart and the compassion that she has makes her a remarkable woman. We don’t mind sharing her with others, she is a strong black woman that teaches valuable lessons about life and the courage and strength that she has shown is truly a Mother’s love. She continues to be a consistent source of strength and support to us and others, we know that we are blessed daily and we are going to enjoy having her in our lives while we can, because tomorrow is not promised to anyone.
So when you see her just congratulate her, because she has earned every blessing that has and are going to come her way!!!
One word frees us of all the weight and pain of life: That word is Love.

The 2009 Family Reunion Gathering

Our Reunion this year, sponsored by our Newberry, SC Chapter, will be held in Columbia, SC, on September 5-6, 2009. We will be staying at the beautiful Radisson Hotel Columbia, 2100 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29210, 1-800-333-3333. We will have an activity filled weekend which includes Saturday morning breakfast at the hotel; afternoon family cookout evening get-togethers; Sunday morning church service; Family Reunion Banquet; Executive Committee Meeting and other gatherings.
