A celebration of 50 Years:
Fletcher and Mary Herbert celebrating their
50th Wedding Anniversary
Fletcher and Mary Herbert (our newsletter editors) celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, August 29, 2009. They were given a surprise celebration hosted by their children and grandchildren. Family and friends were present and some of whom traveled up from Ohio to be present at this great occasion. Together family and friends celebrated two wonderful people and their legacy of marriage, commitment and family. This event was held at the Temptations Restaurant located 220 W. Chelten Ave. in Philadelphia which featured a live jazz band. The food, music and the ambiance was enjoyed by all. The event was well attended.
Everyone could not be present since space was limited. Here are some of the highlights of this event. The next few posts will include video clips and pictures (posted above). View, laugh, smile and enjoy these posts as we celebrate together with them. Thank you,

Greetings, peace and blessings to all of our wonderful family members. It is with great pleasure that we are once again able to be involved in putting together our WLH Family Newsletter as we celebrate our Forty-First Annual Wilson, Lake & Herbert Family Reunion this Labor Day Weekend 2009 hosted by the Newberry, SC WLH Chapter held in Columbia, SC .
As we celebrate our 41st Family Reunion this year we are also celebrating the 20th Anniversary of this Newsletter. In commemoration of this milestone, we are launching our secured wlhnewsletter.com website to continue to share our rich family heritage. We believe this Website will improve our access to what is happening in the family. It will also allow more of us the ability to contribute and in addition, it will be a much less costly way of communicating. We hope that our family members young and old will share in this new venture. Other links may be made a part of the Website in the future. We still plan to have a limited number of copies of the printed version of the Annual Newsletter available for those who want them. Plans are that our format will continue to include our “timeline” to list important events which occurred in the world that also coincide with our own lives.
Ultimately we would like to post all of our Newsletters from the past 20 years on the Website. Wow . . . 20 years seem to have flown by so quickly!
I would like to offer a special thanks from all of the family to Devin Haley, the Creator and Administrator of this Website for his expertise and time in creating such a beautiful and efficient Website.

FLETCHER & MARY'S PROM PICTURE (circa) 1957
Mary & Fletcher Herbert celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on August 29, 2009.
The couple was honored by their wonderful children: Darryl & Susie, Michael & Terri and Christopher & Denise and their grandchildren: Chris, Jr., Mike, Jr., Dara, Denzel, DevynMary, Kyra, Stephen and Stephanie with a Banquet at Temptations.
Fletcher and Mary were totally surprised not only for the event, but to see their busy, in-demand pastor, Pastor Alyn E. Waller of Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church there to bless the food and hobnob a bit, and to see their granddaughter, Dara, back so soon from college, Tuskegee University in Alabama, and to see all of their friends and family at the event from near and far.
“We are so grateful to God for everything. The affair was positively delightful! It couldn’t have been better!”

HE’S HAVING FUN!

RAYMOND LAKE & FLETCHER HERBERT
RAYMOND LAKE reports he is enjoying being 81. He tries to keep busy and not miss anything. He states he is always on local TV Channel 4 in Greenville, SC so much so that people call him a TV Star. He was recently interviewed at a Seniors Luncheon of over 450 people. He is having fun!
