Devin & Jaionne 1989001 On July 22, 1989 Jaionne and Devin Haley married at the young age of 20 after meeting dating and courting through high school from the age of 16.

With Jesus Christ in our hearts and at the Helm of both our lives we took a step of faith on July 22, 1989. Since that time the Lord has gifted us with 4 wonderful children whom you have meet in recent posts. They each share our faith and love for Christ in their own personal lives. We together give Glory, honor and praise to our God who has kept us and our family over the years through struggles, trials and the tribulations of marriage and of life and we are truly blessed and thankful for what he has done and continue to do.

After 24 + years of being together and sharing our lives we salute Jesus Christ our savior, God the Father and the precious Holy Spirit for what is done and continues to be done in our lives and in the life of our family.
We are not and have not been perfect but we are yet being perfected, even until the day of Jesus Christ’s return.

She represents Ohio’s 3rd Congressional District

Congratulations to our LAKE cousin Joyce Beatty, shown above right standing behind Nancy Pelosi as one of the record number of women elected to Congress on Tuesday, November 6, 2012.

She is a Daughter of Herman and Annie Reeder, and granddaughter of Mary Lake Reeder and John Reeder.

Her great-grandparents were Mary Wilson Lake and Burr Lake. Burr Lake was a son of Henry Lake- her great-great grandfather.

Congresswoman Beatty’s Aunt was Eula Lake Reeder Coleman, the mother of Christine Coleman Walker of Virginia and Marcellus Coleman of New Jersey and several other siblings.

Today, we are happy for many things:

Having loved ones together and the joy that it brings,

anticipating the food and the fun that will be;

Needing the camaraderie that the family will see,

Knowing that loved ones are still well and alive;

supporting our efforts and attempts to survive;

Graciously accepting the challenge to be host,

Inviting the people who inspire us the most;

Valuing our LORD who has given us new

inspirational days and good deeds we must do;

Nothing in life beats sharing and giving

Photographer of African American life to receive honor

Before he went blind, Ray Wilson spent three decades recording African American life and leaders in Washington as a hobby.

Raymond Wilson’s children are proud to announce that their father, our cousin, is being honored by the Greater Washington Urban League. He is being honored on March 16, 2012 and will receive the Urban Leagues Meritorious Service Award.
