“Mildred, Teresa, Jackie and two friends (Lisa and Sarita) spent the weekend in New York this summer. While in NY we went to the Broadway Show “Fences” starring Denzel Washington and Viola Davis. All of us were trying to exchange places with Viola and be Denzel’s wife. We had a wonderful time watching him, he is so fine! We also saw Halle Berry at the show that night. . . .”

We know the feeling, about Denzel . . . . Carmita and I enjoyed seeing Denzel Washington in his Broadway debut in 1988 in the play, “Checkmates,” by African American playwright, Ron Milner. Denzel co-starred with Ruby Dee and Paul Winfield. It was a real pleasure – just seeing him. The tickets were given to Carmita by her friend who is a cousin of Denzel’s wife, Paulette.
