Marcus N. Lee, son of Michael & Betty Lee is a Junior at Firestone High School. Marcus is a member of their Performing Arts Program. He performed in the fall production, Intimate Apparel, playing the lead male, George.
Marcus is also a member of the Firestone Falcon’s Baseball Team.

“Intimate Apparel” by Lynn Nottage at Firestone CLC
Firestone Theatre presented the second main stage production of its first season in a new performance space as Lynn Nottage’s play, Intimate Apparel, brings the turn of the 20th Century to powerful life. Performances were held at 7:30 p.m. on November 17, 18, and 19, 2016. Tickets were $5.00 in advance, $8.00 at the door, and $10.00 for reserved VIP seating. All performances were held in the Linda B. Kersker Auditorium of the Firestone Community Learning Center located at 470 Castle Blvd, Akron, Ohio. (Marcus Lee as George is shown below with Esther.)
Intimate Apparel is written by the award-winning playwright Lynn Nottage (Ruined) and is set in 1905. This beautiful play features the story of Esther Mills, a skilled African-American seamstress. She as her own successful business, making lingerie for both society ladies, Mrs. Van Buren in particular, and “ladies of the night.”
The cast of Intimate Apparel is led by seniors Angelina Stallings (Esther), and Patrick Fields (Mr. Marks). The cast is completed by juniors Bree Chambers (Mrs. Dickson, Olivia Kirschbaum (Mrs. Van Buren), and Junior, Makyia Johnson (Mayme), as well as Sophomore, Marcus Lee (George).
Esther has a failed romantic relationship with George Armstrong, who is working on the Panama Canal. She has an unlikely friendship with Mr. Marks, an Orthodox Jew. The play is based on the life of Nottage’s great-grandmother. (Makyia Johnson, (Mayme) is shown above with Esther.)
Makyia and Marcus are descendants of Eartha Jeter Lee, Willa Mae Herbert Jeter and Bessie Lake Herbert

The Blessings of a Big Family
The blessings of a big family are only seen by a few A few of the chosen ones that God has given this blessing too
The blessings are so numerous it’s hard to even start to number or to name them but they all hold a place in the heart
The heart of every person in a big family is unique it’s uniqueness makes us special and should not be critiqued
The memories that are made are more precious than gold from babies to weddings from young and to old
From grandparents to grandchildren and everyone in between the many special relationships that are built and could have never been foreseen
Thank you God for my big family I will treasure through the good times and bad the memories could not be measured
Thank you God for birthdays, simple get-togethers and even the tears for I pray that these blessings last many, many more years
To have a big family can be a lot of work, not just play but life is too short so I THANK GOD FOR MY BIG FAMILY TODAY!

WE SORROWFULLY INFORM YOU OF THE PASSING OF CHARLES JAMES CROWDER, JR., OF ARDMORE, PA. CHARLES WAS VERY CARING, CHEERFUL AND A HARD WORKING PERSON. CHARLES WAS A MEMBER IN THE EARLY YEARS OF OUR PHILADELPHIA CHAPTER WILSON LAKE HERBERT FAMILY REUNION CIRCLE. COUSIN AND FRIEND, RALPH HERBERT, SR., WHO INITIALLY CONTACTED THE SHERATON HOTEL AT 17TH & JFK BLVD ABOUT A CONTRACT, STATES CHARLES WAS INSTRUMENTAL IN HELPING OUR CHAPTER SECURE EXCELLENT HOTEL ACCOMODATIONS AT THE FIRST PHILADELPHIA WILSON LAKE HERBERT FAMILY REUNION WHICH WAS IN 1975. HE WAS EMPLOYED AT THE SHERATON HOTEL AT THE TIME AND NEGOTIATED WITH MANAGEMENT, STATING THAT LABOR DAY WEEKEND HISTORICALLY WAS NOT A BUSY TIME FOR HOTELS BECAUSE MOST PEOPLE TRAVELED TO THE SHORE AREAS AND CONSEQUENTLY THEY NEEDED OUR BUSINESS. WE GOT A VERY GOOD DEAL. THIS BECAME ONE OF OUR FUTURE BARGAINING POINTS FOR PHILADELPHIA. CHARLES WAS THE LOVING BROTHER OF CARMITA C. POE AND SHEILA C. MOBLEY. HE IS VERY FONDLY REMEMBERED BY OUR FAMILY.
